Permits are required for any construction costing more than $1,000 – except for a new roof.
- All land divisions of a tax parcel must be approved by the Planning Commission and requires a Certified Survey Map after approval.
- First step is to fill out the Town of Franklin Permit Application. Include all requested info including a map of the land and the section you’re requesting a rezone in.
- That completed form is returned to the Clerk who passes the information along to the Planning Commission.
- The Planning Commission meets and hears the request & makes a recommendation to the Town Board
- A public hearing is held before the town board meeting, and at the town board meeting, they will make a decision.
- Verify Zoning first with the Zoning Administrator
- Sanitary Permit from the County
- Building Plans need to be approved by the Town’s Building Inspector & permit pulled from him.
- Town Building Permit Application filled out
- Roadway Damage Form signed

- Fill out the Short Term Rental Application, and include the following information:
- State of Wis Tourist Rooming House license
- Proof of homeowners or business liability insurance
- Requested max occupancy based on septic size.
- Application fee (see Franklin’s current Fee Schedule)
- Fill out the form, attach required information and mail along with a check to the clerk. The address is on the form.
